A driving range, also called a “practice” in French-speaking Switzerland, is an area where you practise by hitting balls from a set spot towards targets or a landing area. You work on your shots there with different clubs, without following each ball around a course.
Bays and range balls
When you arrive, look for the free bays, the ball dispenser and the posted instructions. Some bays have mats, others are on grass where the venue allows it. Only use the areas that are open.
Ask at reception how to use the facilities. A first lesson helps you understand where to stand and learn the basic movements.
Range balls are meant for the range alone. Do not go and collect them from the landing area, and do not take them away for a round.
One drill, one target
Choose a target and a drill your coach has shown you. Take time to check your set-up between shots. Constantly changing what you are working on can make the session hard to make sense of.
Choose your clubs according to the drill you are working on. If your contact or a movement is giving you trouble, note it down for your next lesson.

Safety between bays
Keep a safe distance from clubs being swung and use the walkways provided. Put your bag where it does not get in the way of the next bay.
If you have a child with you, explain where to wait and when to come closer. Follow the safety rules specific to the venue.
